Orioles left-hander T.J. McFarland, who was a limited participant in workouts Tuesday, had his right knee examined as a precaution. McFarland tweaked the knee about three weeks ago while working out, but Showalter said he wasn't worried that McFarland would miss any time in spring training. … Showalter estimated that five or six pitchers threw bullpen sessions Tuesday under the supervision of Showalter, new pitching coach Dave Wallace and bullpen coach Dom Chiti. Pitchers also began individual meetings with Wallace and Chiti, and those will continue through the minicamp. … Cuban outfielder Dariel Alvarez, who played at three levels in the Orioles' minor league system in 2013, joined the group of position players at camp Tuesday. … Orioles bullpen catcher Ronnie Deck will be the club's full-time area scout in the state of Oklahoma, so the team is having tryouts for a new bullpen catcher who can also throw batting practice this week in Sarasota. Among those tryouts is Kyle Moore, who served as a coach with Class-A Frederick last season. … Chris Correnti, who has been the team's performance consultant based in Sarasota since 2012, has been added to the major league training staff as an assistant athletic trainer. …Representatives for free-agent infielder Mark Reynolds contacted the Orioles about a possible reunion, and while there is some interest, it doesn't appear that the club is going to sign Reynolds at this point.
