With two-run blast, Nelson Cruz passes Babe Ruth in postseason home runs

In the sixth inning, Cruz planted an 84-mph changeup from Tigers left-hander David Price just over the wall next to the foul pole in right field for a two-run homer to break a scoreless tie. A frustrated Tigers fan caught the ball and then placed it on the edge of the wall.

It was Cruz's 16th postseason home run and his eighth in the playoffs against Detroit (the second in the 2014 ALDS). Cruz has now broken a tie with New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth and moved into ninth all-time on the postseason home run list (with Carlos Beltran).

Cruz and Beltran are tied for fourth among those who played in 2014.

Derek Jeter, who announced his retirement this year, is first with 20 postseason home runs, followed by Albert Pujols with 18 and David Ortiz with 17.
