Chris Tillman makes final spring start tonight against Pirates

SARASOTA, Fla. — The Orioles will host the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at Ed Smith Stadium, just their second night game of the spring.

The Orioles are done with those 1:05 p.m. starts this spring. They have four Grapefruit League games left. They will play the Braves at Disney at 6:05 p.m. on Thursday, at home against the Braves on Friday at 6:05 and then play their spring finale on Saturday against the Braves at Disney at 3:05 p.m.


After spending a whole spring of playing mostly day games, this will help the Orioles get back on the night-oriented schedule they'll have during the regular season.

Right-hander Chris Tillman, who was named the team's Opening Day starter on Tuesday, will make his final start of the spring tonight against the Pirates.


Tillman has allowed three runs in 11 1/3 innings in three Grapefruit League starter, allowing 10 hits with 10 strikeouts and three walks. He also threw four shutout innings in a minor league exhibition game against the Puerto Rico development program team.

Everth Cabrera will start at shortstop for the third consecutive day. Nolan Reimold will lead off and get the start in left against Pirates left-hander Francisco Liriano.
