Orioles lefty Wei-Yin Chen will start Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays, manager Buck Showalter confirmed before Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader.
Although it was Chen's regular day to pitch, the Orioles listed Saturday's spot as TBA while they waited for Chen to work out. Showalter said Chen had been dealing with soreness, but came through Thursday afternoon without any problems.
"He just had some soreness in an area we wanted to check out before we committed there and before we did some things with [T.J.] McFarland and some other guys," Showalter said. "But he feels good. He is ready to go Saturday."
Showalter wouldn't specify where the soreness was, saying only it was, "nothing to do with his arm."
Chen is 1-3 with a 3.13 ERA in nine starts this season.
