The Cleveland Browns picked versatile Florida State offensive lineman Cameron Erving with the 19th overall selection in the NFL draft, their second pick of the first round.

Erving has played center and left tackle. He could line up at offensive guard or right tackle for the Browns immediately.

The Browns are considered unlikely to retain Pro Bowl center Alex Mack when he's expected to become a free agent next year.

Erving is athletic and big at 6 feet 5, 313 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 5.15 seconds, bench pressed 225 pounds 30 times and had a 30 1/2 inch vertical leap.

Erving arrived at Florida State as an unheralded defensive tackle from Colquitt County. He had 20 tackles and a sack in 2011 as a backup defensive lineman.

Then, he became a starting left tackle and was named first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference for the national champion Seminoles.

He was a two-time winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy given to the conference's top blocker.
