I like the idea of the Ravens possibly bringing in Matt Schaub as a backup to starting quarterback Joe Flacco.

Throughout his NFL career Flacco, has never had a serious enough injury to force him to miss playing time, but a team always needs a security blanket.

Schaub put up decent numbers as a starter during his time in Houston, and is familiar with the West Coast offense, which he ran when Gary Kubiak was the Texans' head coach.

According to the Ravens, there won't be many changes in the offense from a year ago, even though it will be under the direction of new coordinator Marc Trestman. That's a huge advantage for the Ravens if they can sign Schaub.

Also, Schaub has plenty of experience, so different coverages and schemes won't suprise him.

Schaub might be a little more costly than most backups in the NFL, but he is worth it. I certainly feel more comfortable with him subbing for Flacco than previous No. 2, Tyrod Taylor.
