Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said during a meeting with reporters at FanFest on Saturday that the $150 million offer reportedly made by the team to free-agent first baseman Chris Davis is off the table.

About an hour later, Scott Boras, Davis' agent told The Baltimore Sun in a phone interview that Duquette's proclamation is news to him. In fact, it's the opposite of what he believes.

Boras told The Sun that the door between Davis and the Orioles continues to be open and that he doesn't believe either side has shut it.

"The dialogue is continuing with a number of teams about Chris Davis, and Baltimore is one of them," Boras said.

Boras would not disclose which teams he is currently talking to besides the Orioles. Members of the Orioles front office privately believe that at this point they were the only ones in serious negotiations involving Davis.

Regardless, the market for Davis is expected to heat up now that outfielder Jason Heyward is off the board; he reportedly has agreed to a deal with the Chicago Cubs for eight years and $184 million.
