The Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellors (COP/C) on Monday approved a conference recommendation to enhance concussion protocols for Big Ten teams.
The concussion protocols will move from best practices and minimum requirements for schools to regulatory conference standards.
There will be reporting requirements for team, disciplinary actions for noncompliance, a higher level of accountability for teams and the addition of a neutral athletic trainer at games.
That trainer will watch games from the replay booth, have their own monitor and will have the ability to directly contact officials on the field.
