The Orioles announced three more cuts after Saturday's game, including Jemile Weeks, which essentially confirms the expected: Rookie Jonathan Schoop will start the season on the 25-man roster.
Weeks and pitchers Kevin Gausman and T.J. McFarland officially were optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. Gausman and McFarland are expected to be in the starting rotation for the Tides.
Weeks, whom the Orioles acquired in a trade with Oakland for closer Jim Johnson, hit .171 in 18 spring games. Schoop, 22, hit .385 in 22 games.
The Orioles still have not announced the rest of their cuts, but reliever Evan Meek and outfielders Steve Pearce and Delmon Young likely have made the team, assuming the organization does not make any further moves. The Orioles will have to make room on the 40-man roster for Young and Meek.
