Philadelphia LHP Cliff Lee

Age: 32 2013 Stats: 9-2, 2.59 ERA in 17 starts; 125 1/3 IP, 100H, 21BB, 115Ks. Career stats: 134-80, 3.53 ERA. 301 games in 12 MLB seasons Contract: $25M in 2013; $25M in 2014 and 2015 and 2016 vesting option ($27.5M with $12.5M buyout). Skinny: I've included Lee simply because he is the big fish and it would be strange if he weren't mentioned. Still, there are so many reasons -- millions, really -- why he won't be an Oriole. Frankly, it would be a surprise if the Phillies dealt him unless they are overwhelmed by financial relief and a prospects package. The Orioles don't have the prospects and won't spend that kind of money on one pitcher. Few teams would, given the inherent risk with pitchers. Connolly's take: No chance. Neither owner Peter Angelos nor Duquette believe in $25 million per season for a pitcher.
