Phelps claims second gold of the night as the U.S. relay team dominates

Michael Phelps won his second gold medal of the night when the United States' 4x200-meter freestyle relay team beat Great Britain and Japan late Tuesday night. Phelps had already taken gold in the 200-meter butterfly and collected his gold medal before racing to another one.

Not a bad 75 minutes for the most decorated Olympian ever.

It's Phelps' 21st career Olympic gold and 25th medal total.

Phelps anchored the relay team behind Conor Dwyer, Townley Haas and Ryan Lochte. His teammates gave him a big cushion.

And a swim cap.

Because he has won so relentlessly in his Olympic career, Michael Phelps has rarely needed to seek retribution.

Phelps snapped his cap as he stood waiting for his turn, so Dwyer shared his.

That was about the only drama in a race the U.S. dominated.

Phelps is three for three in collecting golds during these Games. He is scheduled to participate in three more events in the final four days of swimming.
