Kyler Murray, two-sport star, gets official invite to NFL Scouting Combine later this month

Two-sport star and Heisman Trophy winning Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is on the official invite list for the NFL Combine in late February in Indianapolis.

Murray, an Oakland Athletics draft pick and MLB prospect, has declared for the NFL Draft but has not committed yet to the NFL’s annual highlight showcase. His presence is highly anticipated, though, and he is expected to be a first-round pick.

The NFL released its full combine players list on Thursday and initially called it a list of “participants” but later clarified it was only an invite list, as Murray has not yet said if he will attend.

Vanderbilt QB Kyle Shurmur, the son of Giants coach Pat Shurmur, will attend the combine and throw in front of his father, who is scouting quarterbacks to possibly draft to succeed Eli Manning.

Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins, the consensus top QB in the class, is the only one believed to be on the Giants’ radar at the No. 6 overall pick. Haskins also will be in Indy.

Murray stands just 5-9 and is not believed to be on the Giants’ radar.

Kyle Shurmur had been scheduled to participate in the College Gridiron Showcase in Fort Worth, Texas, but he amicably backed out to rest up, no doubt to show his best in Indianapolis.
