With kickoff close, over 40 locals make cut for NFL rosters

The NFL regular season kicks off Thursday night when the New England Patriots open their Super Bowl defense against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Ravens don’t play until Sunday night, but there is some small consolation in the wait: There are still a couple of locals worth following in Foxborough, Mass.

But then, there are players with Maryland connections across most of the NFL. The Patriots, featuring long snapper Joe Cardona (Navy) and Silver Spring’s Johnson Bademosi, a special teams ace, are one of 22 teams that have an active player with local ties.
