The Washington Wizards are expected to return to their Baltimore roots when they hold the early portion of training camp at Towson University this fall, a source with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday.
"It looks like they're going to be there," the source said.
According to the source, the Wizards will likely move the first week of camp to Towson's two-year-old SECU Arena after holding all of last year's training camp at the Verizon Center in Washington, which also serves as the team's home arena.
The Wizards held early camp at George Mason's Patriot Center in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld could not be reached for comment. Through an athletic department spokesman, Towson athletic director Tim Leonard declined comment.
Comcast SportsNet first reported the move.
It will mark the first time the Wizards held camp in Maryland since the team trained at Bowie State during the 1990s.
The training camp will be a reunion of sorts for Gary Neal (Calvert Hall), who finished his career at Towson. Neal signed as a free agent with the Wizards this summer.
