Penn State (16-1)

Coach Jeff Tambroni is building a winner in Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions took down then-No. 9 Denver on Sunday in Jacksonville, stamping themselves as a contender. Strength: Tambroni is on the short list of the nation's most respected coaches after leading Cornell to the 2009 final. Attackmen Jack Forster and Shane Sturgis combined for 46 goals last spring. Goalie Austin Kaut can get hot in a hurry. Weakness: The midfield lacks a major scoring threat, and the close defense doesn't have ACC-quality athletes. X-factor: The Colonial Athletic Association is always a dogfight. If this team consistently plays with the effort it displayed last weekend, the ceiling is unlimited. Still, the Nittany Lions are not talented enough to coast.
