Hall of Fame jockey Edgar Prado, the winner of 24 riding titles at Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park, is returning to ride the Maryland circuit beginning this week at Pimlico. Prado, who has won nearly 6,900 races and led the nation in wins three consecutive years (1997-99) riding primarily in Maryland, dominated the Maryland circuit for a decade before relocating to New York in 1998. Prado has spent the past 18 months riding full time in South Florida. Prado earned an Eclipse Award as the country's top jockey in 2006, the same year he piloted Barbaro to victory in the Kentucky Derby.

The Kentucky Derby champion appeared calm and fit as he stepped out of his trailer at 6:08 p.m. Monday for a first look at Pimlico Race Course, where he'll try to take the next step in his Triple Crown quest at the May 21 Preakness Stakes.

In the past week, Prado has won the $500,000 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic (G1), the $100,000 Miami Mile (G3) and $150,000 Sunland Park Handicap. He also won the $1.5 million Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) in October aboard Runhappy. Prado earned an Eclipse Award as the country's top jockey in 2006, the same year he piloted Barbaro to victory in the Kentucky Derby (G1).

Prado, the leading apprentice in his native Peru before coming to the U.S. in 1986 as a contract rider for Manny Azpurua, has also won the Belmont Stakes (G1) twice with Birdstone (2002) and Sarava (2004). Prado is ranked eighth all-time with 6,888 wins and seventh in all-time earnings.

Lewis struggled as a broadcaster, both ethically and professionally.

Ravens: Former Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and fellow analyst Cris Carter are "expected to be on their way out" at ESPN and will be replaced by Fox Sports' Randy Moss, according to a report from The Big Lead on Monday. Lewis had prominent spots on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" and "Monday Night Football" programming. Lewis was not involved in ESPN's coverage of the NFL draft last month.

Jumal Rolle, one of the cornerbacks the Ravens brought back with designs on having depth at the position, tore his Achilles tendon. He¿ll miss the 2016 season.

More Ravens: The Ravens agreed to a deal with Temple cornerback Tavon Young, who was taken with their first of five fourth-round draft picks. Young is the eighth draft pick to sign. First-round pick Ronnie Stanley, third-round pick Bronson Kaufusi, and sixth-round pick Keenan Reynolds remain unsigned. Young, a Potomac native, played in 48 career games with 32 starts at Temple, where he had 127 tackles, 21/2 sacks, 21 passes defended and seven interceptions. He also scored two defensive touchdowns.

Cornerback Tavon Young, who was taken by the Ravens with the first of five fourth-round picks, signed his rookie deal Monday.

- Cornerback Jamal Rolle tore his Achilles tendon recently while participating in a workout and will miss the 2016 season. Rolle, 25, was added to the Ravens practice squad last November after he was released by the Houston Texans. He was elevated to the 53-man roster on Dec. 15 and was active for one of the Ravens' final three games.The Ravens re-signed Rolle, an exclusive rights free agent, last month.

Four Terps, coach Reese honored as Big Ten's best

No. 1 Maryland's Taylor Cummings, Megan Whittle, Alice Mercer and Megan Taylor were honored as the best players at their position by the Big Ten Conference

Four Maryland women's lacrosse team members — senior Taylor Cummings (Midfielder of the Year), sophomore Megan Whittle (Attack Player of the Year), senior Alice Mercer (Defender of the Year) and freshman Megan Taylor (Goaltender of the Year) — and coach Cathy Reese (Coach of the Year) — were honored by the Big Ten Conference. In the only award not claimed by the Terps, Penn State's Madison Carter was named Freshman of the Year. All of the players honored played high school lacrosse in the Baltimore area — Cummings and Whittle at McDonogh; Mercer at Century; Taylor at Glenelg; Reese at Mount Hebron; and Carter at South River.

More women's college lacrosse: McDaniel senior midfielder Maggie Quinn (Archbishop Spalding) was named to the All-Centennial Conference team.

Men's college lacrosse: Duke senior midfielder Deemer Class (Loyola Blakefield) was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Baseball: The Chicago White Sox recalled former Orioles right-hander Miguel Gonzalez from the Triple-A Charlotte Knights.

College football: Maryland will play Michigan State at Maryland Stadium on Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in a nationally televised matchup on the Big Ten Network.

College softball: Mount St. Mary's junior outfielder Rachel Heinze (St. Mary's) was named Northeast Conference Player of the Week.

Men's college golf: UMES ended its season with a sixth-place finish at the PGA Minority Golf Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
