For The Baltimore Sun

An alleged incident in Saturday's Maryland Hunt Cup has left one jockey suspended.

Race stewards have suspended jockey Trevor McKenna after one of the judges on the four-mile Glyndon course observed him allegedly punching his 10-year-old horse, Great Halo, when the horse refused to jump the third gate.

According to Don Clippinger, the director of communications for the National Steeplechase Association, McKenna will face a hearing on the allegation.

Just two of 10 starters finished the race, won by Derwins Prospector.
