Analysis and betting tips for Sunday's race card at Laurel Park

Stan Salter’s betting tips and best bets for Sunday’s race card at Laurel Park:

Race 1, 12:30 p.m. post time

Selections: No. 6 Lambourn, No. 8 Chilly Magician, No. 1 Papa Pablo

Lambourn is well-bred to go long on the turf and he gets the leading rider, Jevian Toledo. Chilly Magician’s race two back on the synthetic was strong and he’s trying turf for the first time today for a top barn. Papa Pablo was a good second last time out going long on the turf and he should get a ground-saving trip today.

Race 2, 1 p.m.

Selections: No. 4 Ten Hut, No. 5 Mac North, No. 3 Drive At Nite

Ten Hut gets a big class relief today for strong connections. Mac North broke his maiden last time out for leading trainer Hugh McMahon. If Drive At Nite can get outside he’ll be a factor in the final strides.

Race 3, 1:30 p.m.

Selections: No. 2 Silver Romeo, No. 9 Under the table, No. 4 Forever Bernardini

Silver Romeo gets a mulligan for his last race and should regain his top form today with Feargal Lynch up.  Under the Table is in his beat career form for the new barn and he just missed last time out against Allowance company. Forever Bernardini runs as a first-time gelding today for trainer Mike Trombetta.

Race 4, 2 p.m.

Selections: No. 8 Zipping By, No. 10 Money Market, No. 1 Sultry Encounter

Zipping By ran decent in his last two races and he gets a class relief today. Money Market’s barn has a positive R.O.I. with new horses in their barn and they get Toledo to ride. Sultry Encounter is a closer who will have to work out a trip from the inside.

Race 5, 2:30 p.m.

Selections: No. 5 Weatherurnot, No. 8 Ghetto Fabulous, No. 3 Proud Maid Marian

Weatherurnot always had some ability and she just broke her maiden which should give her new confidence. This is Ghetto Fabulous’ first start for a new barn who wins at 20 percent with new horses. Proud Maid Marian takes a big drop today and gets Trevor McCarthy, who won on her last June.

Race 6, 3 p.m.

Selections: No. 6 Ginger Beer, No. 8 Stormy Mistress, No. 10 Take It Inside

Ginger Beer overcame all kinds of trouble last time out to rally for third at this level and will be rolling late once again. Stormy Mistress came with a wide rally last time out to finish second against better company. Take It Inside just missed at this level last time out and will be right there again today.

Race 7, 3:30 p.m.

Selections: No. 1 Hold On Momma, No. 2 If I Was a Boy, No. 3 Super Sharp

Hold On Momma’s debut win 11 months ago was very strong and she beat a horse who has turned out to be a stakes horse.  If I Was a Boy gets McCarthy back up today, who was aboard for her maiden win last April. Super Sharp is a three-time winner here, but must do better than her last race.

Race 8, 4 p.m.

Selections: No. 4 Dare to Be, No. 15 Catching Fireflies, No. 9 Rumble Doll

Dare to Be’s win two back has turned out to be a key race and I love the cutback in distance today for a top barn. Catching Fireflies had a strong win last time out at this level, but she has to clear from a far outside post position. Rumble Doll might be the best horse in the race, but she is 0-6 this year.

Race 9, 4:30 p.m.

Selections: No. 9 Blanchfield, No. 6 Kantharos Legend, No. 2 Zarbanda

Blanchfield’s barn is having a strong meet and they have a positive R.O.I. with second-time starters. Kantharos Legend rallied for third last out on the turf and tries the dirt for the first time today. Zarbanda’s last two weren’t that special, but she should be dead fit for this distance.

Best bet: Race 6, No. 6 Ginger Beer (4-1)

Day maker: Race 8, No. 4 Dare to Be (10-1)
