Analysis and betting tips for Friday's race card at Laurel Park

Stan Salter's betting tips and analysis for Friday's race card at Laurel Park:

Race 1, 3:40 p.m. post time

Selections: No. 1a Two Charley's, No.  4 The Great Ronaldo, No. 7 Chief Tarhe

Two Charley's is a 2-year-old first-time starter by Hansen, trained by Cal Lynch here at Laurel Park. The dam was a multiple stakes-winner and this colt is a half-brother to Rochelle Rochelle, who earned $85K. The two most recent works were both from the gate and top rider Feargal Lynch is up for the debut. The Great Ronaldo just missed at this level two back and ran a strong second last out at this level.  He will be the main threat to beat today as the short-priced favorite. Chief Tarhe has two older siblings that made some money and he gets Trevor McCarthy for his debut today.

Race 2, 4:09 p.m.

Selections:  No. 6 Nicki Flash, No. 2 Super Cassie Girl, No. 1 Chica Fabulosa

The last time we saw Nicki Flash here at Laurel Park at this level, she won. That was last September and today she runs her second race off the layoff for the new barn of Henry Walters, who claimed her from the comeback race at Pimlico, where she finished a sharp second at this level. Encouraging to see Daniel Centeno take the call today. Super Cassie Girl has been knocking on the door at this level recently and figures to be right there again today. Chica Fabulosa hasn't been in good form recently, but might like the class relief she is getting today.

Race 3, 4:38 p.m.

Selections: No. 2 Twizzle, No. 8 Against the Win, No. 1 Made Bail

Twizzle is a well-bred 4-year-old son of Speightstown, who is very fast and has won two of his first three races. His second dam is Hookedonthefeeling, a Grade 1 Winner who earned $488K. His two wins came this year for trainer Jorge Navarro, who has 35 percent winners this year.  Horacio Karamanos takes the call on this speedball today. Against the Win had a sharp win at this level last August and runs today for the first time since last November.  Made Bail also had a sharp win at this level last April and has been facing tougher since.

Race 4, 5:09 p.m.

Selections: No. 9 Surfspun, No. 5 Willful Limit, No. 4 Not for Fun

Surfspun showed speed last out going a mile at this level and held on for a game second.  He'll have the controlling speed today breaking from the outside with Al Cortez up for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. Willful Limit has been facing better company and drops to this level today. Not for Fun rallied to get second last out at this level and should like the distance today.

Race 5, 5:40 p.m.

Selections: No. 7 My Dinah Lee, No. 9 Beaches N Bourbon, No. 2 Queeb

My Dinah Lee woke up when dropping to this level last out and finished a strong second after having to alter course and swing wide in the stretch-run here at Laurel Park earlier this month.  That was her first start for trainer Niall Saville, and Saville has her right back in the same spot today with Sheldon Russell in the saddle.  Beaches N Bourbon had a strong maiden win at 26-1 at Pimlico and followed that effort up with a respectable third behind my top pick in her most recent start.  Queeb also exits the same race as my top two picks in here do, and should get a ground-saving trip today to be right there.

Race 6, 6:11 p.m.

Selections: No. 6 Church Monkey. No. 12 Storm Candy, No. 10 Buzz Lite

Church Monkey ran very game to finish second last out to a sharp winner, and that was his first race off the claim for trainer Hugh McMahon. It was also his first race on the turf and it was against better company than what he is facing today. Jevian Toledo has been on him for all four of his starts and is back in the saddle once again today. Storm Candy's dam was a 3-time winner on the turf and this guy is a half-brother to Free Thinker, who made $106K. Buzz Lite is by Friesan Fire and makes his debut today for strong win-early connections.

Race 7, 6:42 p.m.

Selections: No. 3 Genuine Happiness, No. 2 Weatherurnot, No. 1 No More Excuses

Genuine Happiness ran a very good third against better company two back, but stumbled at the break in her most recent start. She gets a class relief today for trainer Michelle Nevin, who gets top rider Victor Carrasco to ride. Weatherurnot ran a decent third three back against MSW company and runs for a tag for the first time today. No More Excuses has been working well in the morning for strong connections but must take a step up in class today.

Race 8, 7:12 p.m.

Selections: No. 11 Just Jack, No. 4 Thirteenth Avenue, No. 2 Grey Fox

Just Jack is well-bred for the turf and comes into today's race following two sharp efforts against allowance company on the turf. He won a turf sprint two back against state-breds and was a game second last out at this level going long. Trainer Hammy Smith cuts him back in distance today and I think he'll have a nice trip stalking from the outside with Victor Carrasco in the saddle. Thirteenth Avenue won this condition gate to wire last out but was DQ'd.  He'll be one of the main early threats once again today. Grey Fox just missed at this level last out and will be coming with a late rally again today.

Race 9, 7:41 p.m.

Selections: No. 8 Euro Indian Girl, No. 1 Star Black, No. 9 Tiz Partners

Euro Indian Girl almost stole this race on the front end last out at 21-1 for trainer Kevin Patterson.  She figures to be the controlling speed from the outside once again today with Gerald Almodovar in the saddle. Star Black has encountered traffic problems in her last two races, but is capable of better. Tiz Partners has run well going long on the turf and tries sprinting today for her new barn.

Best bet: Race 3, No. 2 Twizzle (2-1)

Day maker: Race 1, No. 1a CHARLEY'S (8-1)
