DEPARTING overcame 5- and 6-wide trip to win G-3 Illinois Derby that connections opted for instead of Kentucky. GOLDENCENTS, the first Preakness entrant to arrive, repelled foes in G-1 Santa Anita Derby win but backed up readily on 'sloppy' strip in Kentucky.
