Mount Saint Joseph, Mount Carmel basketball teams invited to Alhambra tournament

Mount Saint Joe, Mount Carmel basketball snag Alhambra invites.

The Mount Saint Joseph and Mount Carmel boys basketball teams have received invitations to play in the 57th annual Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament, set to run from March 9-11 at Frostburg State University's Bobcat Arena.

No. 3 Mount Saint Joseph (32-3) will open the tournament against D.C. Power St.Johns with game time slated for 5:45 p.m. March 9.  No. 5 Mount Carmel (25-9) will play Virginia-based Paul VI at 9:15 p.m.

The second round will take place on March 10 with the championship game slated for 8:30 p.m. March 11 after the consolation games.

On Sunday, Mount Saint Joseph defeated Mount Carmel, 65-54, to capture the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship.

Up next for both teams is the Baltimore Catholic League Tournament, set to start with quarterfinal round play on Thursday.

Mount Saint Joseph is the top seed and will host eighth-seeded Loyola Blakefield, while third-seeded Mount Carmel is at home against sixth-seeded Calvert Hall, with both game times set for 7 p.m.
