Moller dismissed as boys soccer coach at Archbishop Spalding

Richard Moller is out as Spalding boys soccer coach, replaced by Nick Hondrum.

Archbishop Spalding boys soccer coach Richard Moller, in his first season, has been dismissed from the position for an undisclosed reason, according to athletic director Jeff Parsons.

Nick Hondrum, an assistant principal at the school who served as an assistant coach for eight seasons from 2005 to 2013, will take over as coach on an interim basis through this season.

The Cavaliers are 2-9-1 this season and 1-7-1 in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference.

Moller, a native of Germany, was hired in December to replace former coach Trey Krell.  Moller was a standout player at Towson University, then played two seasons for the Blast before getting into coaching in the college ranks.

Moller was previously the women's soccer head coach at Vassar and St. Mary's. He was named an assistant coach with the Johns Hopkins women's team last season and has continued to serve that role this season.
