As if 11 innings weren't enough for the Aberdeen baseball team last week, the Eagles found themselves in another extra-inning playoff game Tuesday at the Ripken Baseball Complex's Yankee Stadium.
Aberdeen (14-7), though, needed just eight innings to walk off with a win this time, defeating Dundalk, 6-5, in a Class 3A North Section II semifinal. The Eagles face North Harford in the section final on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Aberdeen was down 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh. David Fulp led off with a base hit and Andrew Brndjar reached on an error. Anthony Cuellar followed with a single, scoring Fulp and, on another error, Brndjar scored the tying run.
Still tied 5-5 in the eighth, Fulp had another base hit to begin the rally. Sam Smith drew a walk and Cuellar won it with an RBI single.
Brndjar earned the win in relief, working three innings. He allowed an earned run on a hits and a walk, while striking out three.
Fulp finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Cuellar was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run. Christian Melendez led all hitters, going 3-for-4 with a run and RBI.
