Who: Annapolis (3-4) at North County (1-6)
When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.
Records: It was a heck of a start for the Panthers, who ran out to a 34-0 lead on Arundel last week. The only problem was they didn’t score the rest of the way and the Wildcats came all the way back for a 35-34 win. Ahmon Middleton leads the Panthers with 735 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. Chris Leslie had another big game with 206 yards rushing in the Knights’ victory over Glen Burnie. He has more than 1,200 yards from scrimmage with 12 touchdowns on the season. Annapolis defeated North County, 56-37, last year.
Showdown skinny: Each week of the regular season, fans will vote for an area high school football matchup to be featured by the Ravens and The Baltimore Sun. The selected game each week will receive visits from the Ravens mascot Poe and a few Ravens cheerleaders (subject to availability), and the school’s stadium will be outfitted with Ravens banners and flags. In addition, $1,500 will be donated to each participating school’s athletic department with each team receiving T-shirts to commemorate their experience playing in the Ravens RISE High School Football Showdown. A new poll is posted on baltimoresun.com each Wednesday at 9 a.m. and closes the following Tuesday at 5 p.m. To vote for the Week 8 showdown in Carroll County, click here.
