Patterson Mill girls soccer coach Mike Parker has been selected as the 2016-17 National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Mideast Sectional Coach of the Year.
Parker led the Huskies to an 11-6-1 mark and their third straight Class 1A state championship game.
The NFHS Mideast Section includes Delaware, Washington, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky.
Parker was nominated by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association and then selected by the NFHS Coaches Association. He is 89-64-8 in 10 seasons at Patterson Mill and has a 206-111-17 career mark that includes nine seasons at Loch Raven and three at Western Tech.
“Networking with, competing against, and learning from so many great high school coaches, I am very honored to receive the NFHS Mideast Sectional Coach of the Year award for girls soccer,” said Parker. “I was extremely fortunate to be able to work with great coaches [assistant coach Brad Crossley and JV coach Eric Smith] and a fantastic group of girls that recognized and bought into our philosophy of working together as a team towards a common goal.”
Parker also teaches mathematics at Patterson Mill and coaches the girls outdoor track and field team.
