The Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer has named Mercy coach Doug Pryor Maryland’s Coach of the Year in the private/parochial category for girls soccer.
Pryor, in his seventh season, led No. 10 Mercy (12-9-1) to an improbable run to the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship game.
The Magic upset top-seeded and defending league champion Archbishop Spalding in the semifinals and pushed No. 1 McDonogh in the title game before falling, 1-0, on a last-minute goal.
Pryor also is the technical director for the Pipeline Soccer Club’s youth girls programs.
