As the regular season comes to a close this weekend, one thing is clear: The quality teams throughout the area are downright impressive.
Consider: Four of the top five teams have yet to lose with No. 1 McDonogh, No. 2 Spalding and No. 5 South River all at 12-0-2, and No. 4 Sparrows Point owning an 11-0 mark.
The consistent winning has made for few shake-ups from week to week and this week is no exception as the top eight teams stayed the same.
Something could give with a couple of county championship games slated tonight. In Baltimore County, Sparrows Point puts its perfect mark on the line against No. 8 Perry Hall (12-2). On Sept. 17, the Pointers claimed a thrilling 4-3 overtime road win over the Gators. In Anne Arundel, South River takes on No. 9 Severna Park (13-1) as the Falcons look to avenge their only loss when South River claimed a 3-1 win at home on Sept. 17.
Some games to watch this week:
No. 5 South River vs. No. 9 Severna Park at Chesapeake-AA, Anne Arundel championship, 7 p.m. Tuesday
No. 4 Sparrows Point vs. No. 8 Perry Hall at CCBC-Catonsville, Baltimore County championship, 7 p.m. Tuesday
