After a one-goal loss in the program's first state championship game in 2009, the No. 3 Gators (15-3-1) learned from the experience and went on to capture the Class 3A crown with a 1-0 win over Huntingtown.

Sullivan, who is 42-10-3 in three seasons, had five new starters to mix in and injuries to overcome early in the season. In Reservoir's 1-0 state semifinal win over defending champ Tuscarora, avenging the 3-2 loss in last year's title game, Sullivan got a first-half goal from standout forward Amanda Jackson and made a key decision to put her back on defense in the second half to mark the Titans' top scoring threat.

In the title game, the Gators — more focused and businesslike this time — showed poise in the final 10 minutes when Huntingtown pressed to tie, comfortably defending a number of corner kicks and other scoring chances to cap the win. It was the team's fourth straight playoff shutout; it yielded just one goal in five postseason games.
