The junior midfielder was a season-long catalyst and saved some of her best work for the No. 2 Hawks' 2-1 win over Linganore for the Class 3A state championship. Hopkins, who finished with 13 goals and 20 assists this season, scored five minutes into the game and assisted on what turned out to be the game-winning goal two minutes later. It was the third straight state crown for River Hill and Hopkins has been a part of each. Hopkins also was clutch on the way to the title game. In a 2-1 win over then-No. 3 Bel Air in the state semifinal on Nov. 9, Hopkins assisted on the tying goal and scored the game-winner as the Hawks rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit.
