The senior shortstop led the two-time defending Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference champion and No. 3 Cavaliers (2-1) to two wins last week. In a 4-2 victory over Chesapeake-AA on Wednesday, Gunning went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. In Friday's 8-5 win over Century, she again went 2-for-3 with two doubles and drove in four runs. A two-time All-Metro selection and three-time IAAM A Conference All Star, Gunning has a career .310 batting average with 17 doubles, four triples, three home runs and 36 RBIs. She maintains a 3.25 GPA and is set to attend East Carolina University, but she is unsure whether she will continue to play softball.
