The senior pole vaulter won her second straight Baltimore County indoor championship last week with a vault of 12 feet 6 inches, second best in Maryland this season and 16th in the country, according to running website Dyestat.com. She also won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet. A two-time All-Metro vaulter, Gruver is the defending Class 3A state indoor champion and has won two outdoor titles. Last year, she won the 3A indoor championship with a vault of 13 feet, a meet record for all four classifications. A member of the DC Vault Club, she won at the Penn Relays last spring and tied for second with a personal-best 13 feet, 4.5 inches at the New Balance National Indoor meet in March. Gruver, who has a 3.33 GPA, has signed with Kentucky.
