Calvert Hall's win over McDonogh sparks biggest change in Week 9 state football poll

Calvert Hall’s win over McDonogh on Friday sparked the biggest change in this week’s Maryland High School Football State Poll. St. Frances held onto the top spot and no new teams entered the poll with one week left before the playoffs.

McDonogh tumbled five spots to No. 10 after falling to the Cardinals, 35-21. Calvert Hall moved up five spots to No. 17.

St. Frances, which remains the unanimous No. 1, and McDonogh are the only Baltimore-area teams in the top 10. Wise, Damascus, Walkersville and Good Counsel round out the top 5.

No. 12 Broadneck, No. 13 Howard and No. 14 Archbishop Spalding all held onto their spots. Mount Saint Joseph dropped three spots to No. 20 despite scoring more points on St. Frances than any other team this season in a 37-22 loss. River Hill remained No. 24.
