Baltimore-area varsity football: By The Numbers for Week 3

Another high school football Friday brought another rainy night. Fortunately, no storms showed up, so every team completed its game. There were few upsets but many big performances in Week 3. Here’s a look at some of them.

2 — Blocked punts returned for touchdowns — by Franklin’s Elijah Solomon and Corey Crawford — in a 28-14 win over Smyrna, Del.


2 — Interceptions by Woodlawn’s Dillan Thompson, including one returned for a touchdown, in the Warriors’ 16-6 win over New Town.

4 — Interceptions by Havre de Grace’s Jordan White in three games, including two in Friday’s 45-15 win over Perryville.

4-0 — Record for Calvert Hall and for Concordia Prep, who will play each other Friday night.

5 — Touchdowns scored by North County’s Chris Leslie, who ran for four and caught one in a 61-40 loss to Northeast.

18 — Years since Liberty last started 3-0 before the Lions beat Williamsport, 38-21, on Friday night to stay undefeated through the first three games.

18 — Second-half points scored by Towson’s Damone Moore, who had two touchdowns and an interception return in a 40-14 victory over Dulaney.

98 — Yard kickoff return by Broadneck’s Ethon Williams to polish off a 34-17 win over Severna Park.

165 — Yards rushing and three touchdowns scored by Archbishop Spalding’s Jayon Venerable in a 41-18 win over Bishop Moore, Fla.

187 — Yards rushing on 25 carries with two touchdowns by Atholton’s Melvin Brown as the Raiders rallied from 14 points down to beat Reservoir, 28-27, in overtime.

222 — Yards rushing by Annapolis’ Ahmon Middleton on 19 carries with two touchdowns in a 36-12 win over Glen Burnie.

256 — All-purpose yards by Dundalk’s Ronnie Brown, who had an 81-yard kickoff return, caught a 41-yard touchdown pass and ran for two touchdowns in a 41-14 win over Lansdowne.

293 — All-purpose gained yards by Milford Mill’s Desmond Shell in the first half of a 50-0 win over Randallstown — 105 rushing yards with three touchdowns and 138 return yards as well as 50 yards for a touchdown after a fumble recovery.

295 — Total yards gained by Liberty quarterback Nate Kent, who threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 77 yards in the win over Williamsport.

310 — All-purpose yards gained by Kenwood’s Karlar Farley in a 38-37 upset of Hereford — 101 rushing yards and one touchdown, 95 return yards for a touchdown and 114 receiving yards.


331 — Total yards gained by Winters Mill quarterback Alex Barnes, who threw for 225 and two touchdowns and ran for 106 and two more touchdowns, in a 45-33 loss to Poolesville.
