Baltimore-area varsity football: By The Numbers for Week 9

Here’s a look at some of the impressive stats from Week 9 and the season to date as high school football rolls toward the regular-season finale this weekend.

2 — Interceptions returned for touchdowns to spark Dunbar’s 34-8 win over Mervo in a game resumed from earlier in the season with the Poets leading 16-8 and the Mustangs driving: a 70-yard return by Raekwon Walker and a 69-yard return by Rarshard Williams

5 — Touchdowns scored by Boys’ Latin’s Jyair Thomas, who ran for 147 yards on 17 carries, in a 35-32 win over Archbishop Curley

5 — Baltimore-area teams remaining unbeaten: St. Frances, Broadneck, Dunbar, Glenelg and Liberty

6 — National ranking for St. Frances in USA Today’s Super 25

8 — Interceptions this season by Perry Hall’s Donte Cloude Jr., including two in Friday’s 21-14 win over Parkville

9 — Players who ran the ball for Liberty in gaining more than 300 yards on the ground in Friday’s 49-13 win over Francis Scott Key

19 — Straight wins by St. Frances, the Baltimore area’s longest active winning streak

44 — Rushing touchdowns scored by Edgewood cousins Antwain Banks and Deonte Banks this fall. The Rams have scored a total of 48.

50 — Career touchdown receptions by Broadneck’s Ethon Williams, breaking the state record set by Max Morris of St. John’s-Prospect Hall in 2004

51 — Straight games won by Damascus, breaking the state record of 50 set by Urbana in 2001

98 — Yard rushing touchdown by Towson’s Jordan Daughtry in a 55-14 win over Lansdowne on Oct. 19

234 — Yards rushing on 23 carries by Dundalk’s Ronnie Brown, who scored twice in a 28-7 upset of Milford Mill

256 — Yards rushing on seven carries by Franklin’s Elijah Solomon, who scored four touchdowns, including an 88-yard run, in a 49-6 win over Dulaney

274 — Yards rushing by Annapolis’ Ahmon Middleton on 30 carries with three touchdowns in a 44-9 win over Severna Park

324 — Yards rushing on 10 carries by Towson’s Jordan Daughtry, who scored three touchdowns in the win over Lansdowne

360 — Total yards gained by Archbishop Spalding quarterback Jayden Umbarger, who scored five touchdowns in a 47-0 win over Gilman. He threw for 172 yards and ran for 188.
