James Beacham
Westminster
The senior is coming off a big cross country season in which he finished fifth in the state in the difficult Class 4A finals. Beacham should be on a roll in the distance races again this season.
Brian Brown
Carver
The senior played a big role in helping the Bears to their first state title last year. Brown can run anything from the 55 to 800meters and gives Carver lots of points.
Robby Creese
Glenelg
He won the Class 2A state title in cross country, bouncing back after finishing second in the Howard County championship a few weeks before. The senior also won the regional title and had to battle asthma problems throughout the postseason.
Matt Jablonski
Loyola
The senior won the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title in cross country and was one of the state's top runners in the fall. Jablonski also won the New York State Jesuit Championship in a near-record time.
Juleon Killikelly-Lee
Western Tech
He didn't run indoors last year but was one of the area's top sprinters outdoors and ran 10.84 in the 100 meters in outdoors as a sophomore last spring. He'll also give the Wolverines points in relays this winter.
Kenneth McCuin
Mervo
He had a big role in the Class 3A state meet last winter. Now a senior, he took second in the 500 and third in the 800. McCuin is growing into one of the city's top middle-distance runners.
Kikanae Punyua
Glenelg Country School
Punyua transferred from Wilde Lake to Glenelg Country School this fall, and the senior ran very well despite battling leg injuries that limited his practice time. Punyua finished second to Jablonski in the MIAA A Conference championship race in cross country.
Mason Rivera
Hereford
The senior is one of the area's best distance runners and led Hereford to a sweep of the Baltimore County, regional and Class 3A titles in cross country. Rivera even beat Jablonski in the Bull Run Invitational in September and has grown into an elite distance runner.
Charlie Ryan
Hereford
Ryan took second in the state in the shot put last winter with a toss of 49 feet, 5.75 inches. The senior should be one of the best in the shot put in Class 3A this winter and gives the Bulls depth in field events.
Davon Tildon
Carver
The state champion in the 55 meters two years ago, Tildon was slowed by injuries but still ran on the 800 relay team that won the state title as Carver took the Class 1A team crown. The senior is rounding into form and should be one of the region's top sprinters.
