South River, junior, middle distance

•Ran well, mostly in the 800 and 1,600, throughout the outdoor season

•Won the 1,600 at the Class 4A East Region meet in 4:22.78

•Also took first in the 800 in the Knights Invitational (1:57.61)

•Finished second in the 800 and 1,600 in the Anne Arundel County title meet

Kyle Bryant

Century, junior, pole vault

•Growing into one of the top pole vaulters in the state

•Vaulted a season best of 14 feet, 3 inches to win Class 2A state title

•Also won the Class 2A North (13-8) and Carroll County (14-0) crowns

•Helped out in long jump, hurdles, high jump and relays also this season

Will Henderson

Poly, junior, jumps/sprints

•Had a strong season in sprints, hurdles, field events and relays

•Won Class 3A state long jump title with leap of 24 feet, 0.25 inches

•Second in 110 hurdles and long jump at Class 3A North Region meet

•Also ran on 400 relay team that took second in state meet

Jonathan Johnson

Milford Mill, senior, middle distance

•Won 400 at Baltimore County title meet (49.26) and Class 3A North Region meet (49.52)

•Finished second in the 400 at state meet

•Also took second in the 800 in Baltimore County title meet

•Ran on third-place 1,600 relay team at state championship meet

Silas Kelly

South Carroll, senior, jumps

•Tremendous athlete who also plays football and does a little bit of everything

•High jump might be his best, took first in the state in Class 2A (6-6)

•Best jump of the season was 6-7 earlier at the Talley Zimmerman Invitational

•Also won triple jump at region meet (42-11)

Robert Miller

City, senior, hurdles/sprints

•Versatile athlete who ended his career with a solid outdoor season

•Can run hurdles, sprints, relays and helped City in numerous ways during career

•Won 300 hurdles at Class 3A state meet in 38.28

•Also took second in 110 hurdles at state meet after winning in region meet the previous week (15.11)

Manny Patterson

Mount Saint Joseph, senior, sprints

•Played a big role in the Gaels winning the MIAA title during the regular season and in the title meet

•Took the 100 and 200 at the MIAA title meet (10.68, 21.89).

•Also ran on the winning 400 and 800 relay teams at that meet

•Will be going to Maine in the fall to play football

Michael Nash

Hereford, junior, throws

•Won the Class 2A state shot put by throwing 56 feet, 9 inches

•Also won every shot and discus he competed in this spring until an eighth-place finish at state meet

•Won county and Class 2A North Region titles in shot put (47-6 and 50-7.48)

•Did the same thing in the discus (143-5 and 143-8.8)

Matthew Selba

Archbishop Curley, senior, throws

•Won MIAA discus with throw of 171 feet, 9.5 inches, a personal record

•According to athletic.net, that throw was the metro area's best this season

•Took third in the discus at MIAA championship meet

•Also can run and took third in the 800 at Aziz Raoof Invitation earlier this spring

Stephon Torrence

Digital Harbor, junior, hurdles

•Ran on first-place 1,600 relay team at Class 4A state meet and second-place 400 relay

•Also took second in 110 hurdles at state meet

•Finished third in 300 hurdles at the state meet as Digital Harbor took third overall

•Won both 110 (14.63) and 300 hurdles (38.83) at Class 4A North Region meet

Eric Walz

Dulaney, senior, distance

•Has become one of the top distance runners in metro area the past two years

•Finished second in the 3,200 at Class 4A state meet and fifth in 1,600

•Took first in both in Baltimore County title meet, running 4:20.73 and 9:57.60

•Repeated the feat at Class 4A North Region meet, posting times of 4:31.30 and 9:41.77

Elijah White

Centennial, junior, jumps

•Excelled in long, triple and high jumps throughout the spring season

•Won the Class 3A state high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches

•Also won high (6-3), long (21-5) and triple jumps (46-3) at Howard County title meet

•Took both high (6-0) and triple jumps (43-7) at Class 3A East Region meet

Tory Young

Gilman, junior, middle distance

•Became one of the area's top runners in the 400 this season

•Won the 400 in 48.54 at the MIAA championship meet last month

•Also ran on victorious 1,600 relay team and the second-place 3,200 relay at MIAA title meet

•This comes after winning 500 at MIAA title meet indoors
