KEYS TO VICTORY
With the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference regular season ending Tuesday, teams are jockeying for the six playoff spots and possible first-round byes, which go to the top two teams. The defending champion Cardinals are currently in third place with a 6-2 record, while the Crusaders are clinging to the final playoff spot at 4-4. The Crusaders, who have lost two straight one-goal games, will be honoring their seniors as they play their final home game and the school also are celebrating renovations at Mitchell Stadium. The home team will need grinding play in the middle of the field, while staying crisp on attack. The Cardinals, winners of three straight, are finding their form with a balanced attack and close attention to detail in other areas. St. Paul’s closes out the regular season at No. 4 Boys’ Latin (10-4, 5-3 MIAA) on Tuesday, while the Cardinals host second-place and No. 2 Loyola Blakefield (13-4, 7-2) with the likelihood of an opening-round bye on the line.
