KEYS TO VICTORY
The teams, which prepared for this Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference opener with challenging out-of-league schedules, closely resemble each other. Both have standout goalkeepers, experienced playmakers on attack and talented but inexperienced defenses. Winning faceoffs will be key, with the Eagles leaning on senior Jordy Elardo and the Crusaders banking on junior Tyler Rockhill. Flaig, who is in position to become St. Paul's all-time scoring leader, is the catalyst with McGovern and Mitch Gordon also dangerous threats.McDonogh counters with a solid one-two punch in Black and Clark with a fine supporting cast. Barretto and Stover have the ability to take over games.Last season, St. Paul's beat the Eagles, 12-9, at home in the teams' only meeting.
