Matt Jablonski, Loyola, senior

The senior finished his Loyola career with a flourish this fall, running strongly throughout the season and helping the Dons to their second straight Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association conference title.

Jablonski, who has committed to run at Oregon, bounced back from some midseason stumbles. He won the MIAA championship at Oregon Ridge in what's believed to be a course record of 15 minutes, 11 seconds, beating Kikanae Punyua of Glenelg Country School by 48 seconds.

"I wanted to take it out in the beginning and set the tone," Jablonski said that day.

He did just that, literally running away from the field. After that, Jablonski finished second in the Maryland-D.C. Private School championship meet.

After the season, Jablonski won a second straight New York State Jesuit Championship, posting the second-fastest time in the meet's 61-year history. He then took second in the Nike Cross National Southeast Regional Meet in Cary, N.C., which earned him a trip to the National Meet in Oregon.
