The senior running back set the Carroll County record for single-season rushing yards Friday night when he ran 35 times for 206 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cavaliers past Oakdale, 35-12, in a Class 2A West region semifinal. Gavin's 1,844 yards broke the 16-year old record of 1,819 set by Liberty's Calvin Stacey. Gavin stands second on the county's career rushing list. This fall, he has run 228 times and scored 23 touchdowns while also playing linebacker and making 42 tackles and two sacks. He had seven tackles and a sack Friday night as South Carroll (8-3) avenged an early-season loss to the Bears. Gavin, who will consider his college football options after the season, has a 3.9 weighted GPA. He will play in the Baltimore Touchdown Club Senior All-Star Game Dec. 20.
