Boy Athlete of the Week: Ali'i Niumatalolo, Broadneck

The junior linebacker played a key role in the No. 2 Bruins' 28-25 victory over Anne Arundel County rival and 10th-ranked Meade on Friday to keep Broadneck in first place in the county and in the Class 4A East region. Niumatalolo, 6-feet-2, 225 pounds, had 17 tackles, including one on a fourth quarter running play that helped stop the drive and maintain the Bruins' lead. He also pressured the quarterback four times. He has 50 solo tackles, 36 assists and seven tackles for a loss as well as two interceptions, two sacks and a forced fumble. The son of Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo, he is being recruited by college programs including Maryland, Wake Forest, Boise State, West Virginia, UNLV and Brigham Young.
