The junior middle linebacker had two interceptions, including one with 1:47 left to seal the No. 3 Panthers' 8-3 upset victory over then-No. 1 McDonogh. A 5-star recruit and the No. 1 player in Maryland in the Class of 2016 according to Rivals.com, Smith had 13 tackles and his first two interceptions of the season. This fall, he has 78 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. The 6-foot-2, 226-pound Smith has offers from more than 30 top programs, including Florida State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson and Wisconsin. Smith, who has a 3.5 GPA and also runs track, likely will begin narrowing his college list after this season.
