The standout senior turned in the top individual performance at the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A championship, sweeping the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter races in the two-day meet that concluded Saturday at Archbishop Spalding.
Gilmore dominated the distance races, coming across in the 800 with a time of 1 minute, 54.27 seconds (meet record and fastest time in the area this season); winning the 1,600 in 4:14.66 (fastest time in the state this season) and capturing the 3,200 in 9:18.65 (fastest time in the area this season).
Loyola Blakefield finished fourth as a team with Gilman capturing its third straight title.
The performance continued a remarkable senior year for Gilmore. He claimed All-Metro first-team honors in cross country and indoor track and field. In the indoor season, he also won the 1,600 and 3,200 races at the MIAA championships.
