The standout senior won his second straigtht Class 2A-1A state crown in the 182-pound division to complete a perfect 42-0 season. Smith did it in dominatiing fashion at University of Maryland's Cole Field House, wrapping up the title with a first-period pin of Mountain Ridge's Austin Clark on March 9 as the Scorpions took second place behind South Carroll. He pinned his way through Howard County, Class 2A-1A South region and state tournament. In reaching the title bout at states, Smith recorded second-period pins against Steven Visamele (Northwestern-BC), Jake Ridgely (Middletown), and Demetrius Smith (Randallstown). Set to wrestle at Maryland, he finished ranked No. 2 in the state in the 182-pound class behind McDonogh National Prep champion Myles Martin.
