The Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association dual meet championship was in the balance Friday with Lindsey taking on John Carroll's Mike McCabe in the 113-pound division, the final bout of the match. McDonogh led, 29-24, prior to the bout, so Lindsey needed to avoid getting pinned to clinch the No. 1 Eagles' fourth straight championship. Lindsey had lost to McCabe three times last year as a freshman, including a 17-0 tech fall. In the third period Friday, McCabe got Lindsey in a cradle and looked to be on his way to getting the needed pin for the Patriots before Lindsey was able to kick out, getting a two-point reversal and claiming a dramatic 4-3 win that secured a 32-24 victory over the No. 2 Patriots. After going 11-19 as a freshman, Lindsey has made drastic strides in his sophomore season, with Friday's win improving his record to 17-9.
