The Gators' leader can't tell you about the records he set or even supply his stats. For Pipik, the game wasn't about that, even though he now holds all but two pitching and hitting records in school history.

"I don't know what they are," he said. "The reason this year was so special was because the team did so well. We went 21-0 before we lost [the 3A East Regional semifinal]. I'll never forget that. I'll forget all my records and everything else, but not that. Completing an unbeaten regular season was really special."

Bound for CCBC-Catonsville, Pipik came into the season holding the team record for batting average (.500) and strikeouts (84). This season he added new ones: win-loss record (10-0), ERA (0.38), RBIs (32), runs scored (29) and home runs (8).

He pitched one perfect game — and came within one inning of another — and threw four shutouts and a six-inning no-hitter in the playoffs.
