•Led Friars with nine home runs

•Posted a 5-1 record and 1.98 ERA

John Fitzgerald

 Gilman, junior, third baseman

•Two-sport standout (football, baseball)

•All-MIAA selection

•Batted .455, with 35 hits, including two home runs and 39 RBIs

•Great work ethic helped account for 11 doubles, four triples and 25 runs scored

Luke Johnson

 North Harford, senior, catcher

•Batted .455, with four home runs and 25 RBIs, to lead Hawks to Class 3A state semifinals

•Accurate and quick behind the plate; threw out 13 of 19 runners (.684)

•Captain of two straight 3A North Region champion teams

•Will play next year at Harford CC

Jon Mierzwa

 Reservoir, senior, pitcher-infielder

•Stepped in late, finished 3-1

•Posted a 0.50 ERA, allowing just three earned runs in 42 innings

•Finished with .404 average

•Will play next year at Catholic

Mark Smith

 Mount Hebron, senior, pitcher

•Howard County Pitcher of the Year

•Finished 8-1, with 92 strikeouts and a 0.93 ERA in 75 innings; only defeat came after allowing two hits in six-plus innings of 1-0 loss to Chopticon in state final

•Three-year starter finished with 17-5 overall record, 174 strikeouts and a 1.68 ERA in 1531/3 innings

•Committed to Towson

Griffin Wild

•Led Falcons offensively with seven home runs

•Paced Class 4A state finalists in batting average and RBIs

•Had three-run home run in Anne Arundel County-clinching win over Arundel
