Despite tragedy, Baltimore City Division A boys lacrosse title game set to be played Monday night

The City Knights will be taking on Mervo for the Baltimore City Division A title Monday with heavy hearts after one of their own, junior captain Ray Glasgow III was murdered Saturday night.

Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Poly.

City coach Anthony "Merc" Ryan said his players, communicating by a group text, decided they wanted to play the game, despite the difficult news of losing their teammate and captain.

Glasgow was killed in a shooting in Southeast Baltimore on Saturday night. Ryan is meeting with the team this morning to talk about the loss and get a gauge of how the players are holding up in the difficult time.

"We want to try to be strong and play through this tough time and go out there and compete. That's what we plan on doing. It's easier said than done," Ryan said.

City and Mervo will be meeting in the title game for the third straight year. City won the crown in 2016 before Mervo claimed the title last season.
