Aberdeen junior Stephanie Jones scored her 1,000th point and the No. 11 Eagles rolled past visiting Severna Park, 69-34, Tuesday night.
Jones needed seven points to reach the mark, which came with 2:36 left in the opening quarter.
Jones hit a running jumper from the right side, her eighth point of the night, to push past 1,000. She finished with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds.
"It's amazing, it's a big achievement for anybody to do within their high school career and for me to do it as a junior, I think that it's pretty cool," Jones said. "I really wanted to do it in the beginning of this year and now I'm working to beat her, that's my next goal."
The "her" Jones speaks of is older sister Brionna Jones, a sophomore at Maryland, where Stephanie has orally committed.
Brionna Jones finished her career at Aberdeen with 1,812 points, missing the last two months of her senior season with a knee injury. Before that injury, scoring 2,000 points was in sight.
That number is also on Stephanie's radar.
"I think I can do it, that's another goal. If I pass Bri, then I know I can definitely do it," Jones said. "I really think I can do it by next year. I'm excited for that."
Aberdeen head coach Amber Milnes called timeout after the basket, allowing Jones to be honored with the game ball.
"We're really proud of Steph. We knew that she was going to get there pretty quickly, based on the numbers she was putting up," Milnes said. "After her first season alone, I think she already put up, I think she was at 486 at the end of her first year."
The basket pushed the early Aberdeen lead to 14-4. The quarter ended with Aberdeen ahead, 21-7.
The Eagles pressed the Falcons from the start and with Kierra Palmer's steal and layup, the Aberdeen lead ballooned to 27-10 with 6:37 left in the second quarter. Severna Park called timeout.
Out of the timeout, Palmer (18 points) was at it again, this time draining a 3-point shot for a 30-10 lead. The teams traded baskets over the final four-plus minutes of the half and Aberdeen went into the break up 36-16.
The Eagles turned up the intensity a bit in the third quarter. Palmer's three-point play boosted the lead to 49-20, highlighting the Eagles' 13-4 run.
Falcons junior Kiley Golden (13 points) gave her team a little boost, hitting a short jumper at the buzzer ending the third period. The Eagles led, 50-22.
The final quarter was much of the same, with Aberdeen continuing to press and extend the lead. Senior Najze Norton was the beneficiary, scoring 11 of her 15 points in the quarter. It was her follow with 3:30 to play that gave Aberdeen a 60-29 lead.
The Eagles lead grew as large as 38 (67-29), prior to the 35-point final score.
"I came here to get better," Falcons coach Lisa Magness said. "You're not gonna make it far in the playoffs or we're not going to grow as team or a program if we don't play the better competition."
