Top-ranked John Carroll stuck with what works and led from tip-off to the final buzzer as the host Patriots improved to 11-0 by beating No. 4 St. Frances, 64-51, on Friday in boys basketball.
John Carroll employed its standard switching defense, going from man to zone to press, to keep the Panthers (10-3) off balance. The Patriots led by double digits in each half, but St. Frances was able to cut the lead to six late in the game.
Elijah Long finished with a game-high 21 points for the Patriots. Kirk Lee led St.Frances with 19 points.
No. 5 Calvert Hall 72, Glenelg Country 59: Evan Phoenix scored a game-high 21 points to power the Cardinals (9-2) past the host Dragons (4-6).
Calvert Hall built a 10-point halftime lead and held off a fourth-quarter push by Glenelg Country.
No. 6 Edmondson 85, No. 12 Poly 79: The Engineers (4-2) made 10 3-pointers and took a two-point halftime lead before falling to the Red Storm (5-0).
Dijon Thompson scored 21 points for Poly. Keandre Cook had a game-high 33 points for Edmondson, which switched from a 2-3 zone defense in the first half to a 1-3-1 zone in the second half.
Randallstown 64, New Town 57, OT: The host Rams (3-1) — led by Anthony Granger, who had 23 points and 13 rebounds — had shooting woes at the foul line but forced overtime and won.
Randallstown went on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 55 and force overtime, then outscored the 3-2 Titans 9-2. The Rams went 16-for-31 from the free-throw line.
Ben Franklin 64, Southwestern 45: Tyheem Potillo scored 15 points and Darius Miller had 12 to lead the Bayhawks (4-3) past the Sabres (2-1).
Ben Franklin led 33-13 at halftime.
Lansdowne 44, Patapsco 43: Daquan Williams scored 17 points as the host Vikings (3-0) held off a late rally by the Patriots (1-4).
Patapsco scored a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Boys' Latin 84, Avalon School 65: Blair Brooks had 21 points and Kodye Pugh had 25 points and 13 rebounds to power the host Lakers (7-4) past the Black Knights at the Laker Invitational.

Western 61, No. 6 City 47: Jasmen Walton scored 14 points, and the host Doves (5-1) were in control the whole game and upset the Knights (2-3).

No. 7 Mount Hebron 68, Hammond 31: Megan Konig had 17 points to lead the Vikings (6-0) past the host Bears (0-6).
John Carroll 61, No. 8 St. Vincent Pallotti 45: The visiting Patriots (2-4) broke a four-game losing streak by upsetting the Panthers (2-3).
Carly Schofield had 13 points and Savannah Simmons had 10 for John Carroll.
No. 15 Catonsville 50, Owings Mills 34: Jasmine Dickey had 14 points and Lauren McDonald had 13 to lead the visiting Comets (4-1) past the Eagles (2-3).
Mount de Sales 61, St. Timothy's 43: A strong second-half lifted the host Sailors (5-3) over St. Timothy's (3-2).
Kristen Kunaniec hit five 3-pointers in the first quarter as St. Timothy's took a 29-21 halftime lead. The Sailors defense denied Kunaniec in the second half and freshman Madison Burris finished with 16 points for Mount de Sales, which has won four in a row.
Dunbar 73, Digital Harbor 54: Lashai Stackhouse (19 points) and Nia Trusty (16 points) led the way as the host Poets (4-2) beat the Rams (3-2).
Dunbar led 29-26 at the half.
Chesapeake-AA 59, Northeast 58: Brook Worrell scored 13 of her game-high 37 points in the fourth quarter to rally the Cougars (5-0) past the host Eagles (1-5).
Northeast led 28-22 at halftime.
Annapolis Area Christian School 58, Institute of Notre Dame 44: Kentucky-bound Taylor Murray had a game-high 26 points to power the Eagles (10-1) past the host Penguins (6-3).
